Prophetic Painting - A New Assignment

Updated: May 29, 2024

In The Roar Of Your Waterfalls Prophetic Painting

It’s true that when it comes to serving God, worship is our first love. My husband came to the UK fresh from studying classical voice at University, singing beautiful lyric tenor arias and art songs. My parents were a vocal and instrumental duo, and I had been brought up singing and harmonising from an early age both with their English and Irish folk repertoire, and in our local church in West Sussex where my parents led the music.

The combination of my interest in early English folk, choral and church music, and Edmund’s extensive classical repertoire was irresistible. Edmund analysed the folk tunes I knew by heart, surprised at the unusual form and composition of some of the melodies. Music became our common bond, and would remain so in the years ahead.

Acrylic painting on paper of a figure standing in front of a column of blue and green flowing water like a waterfall. Background painted in horizontal strokes from dark brown at bottom, to ochre at the top. FIgure wears a purple v neck sweater and brown slacks. A few words are barely visible at bottom centre, written in pencil.

Two of the seminal albums of our early spiritual journey were the ‘Hungry’ and ‘Surrender’ albums, by Vineyard Worship. This prophetic painting was inspired by the track called ‘Devotion’. Painted in 2002, it's a sketch of the waterfall of God's mercy and grace. Refreshing, vital and never ending. Another imperfect and quick picture sketch, but a reminder to us that God’s mercy is new every morning. He doesn't look for perfection, and He doesn't give us what we deserve. We are so thankful for this.

"I surrender to you

Lord I’m giving all I am to you

You have captivated me

And I come to you with my devotion"
